Standings Shuffle: Champion Rogers Jumps Nine Spots

With less than two months remaining in the 2018 PRCA season, cowboys are scrambling to get into the Top 15 to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Between Aug. 7-13, PRCA rodeos paid out $1.71 million across 37 rodeos.

Defending Team Roping Heading World Champion Erich Rogers leaped nine spots in the week of Aug. 7-13, the biggest climb of any cowboy into the Top 15. While jumping from 23rd to 14th in the PRCA | RAM World Standings Rogers won $9,027 over several rodeos during the week.

In that time, 29 other cowboys moved up in the Top 15, with two others moving into 16th place, just outside the qualification zone.

The following cowboys saw their positions improve in the world standings.

Six spots

Orin Larsen moved from 13th seventh in bareback riding.

Five spots

Bryce Davis jumped five spots from 15th to 10th in steer roping.
• Bull rider Joe Frost climbed from 10th to fifth.

Three spots

• Bull rider Jeff Askey climbed from 11th to eighth.
• Tanner Brunner rose from 11th to eighth in steer wrestling.
• Saddle bronc rider Isaac Diaz rose from seventh to fourth.
• J.W. Harris jumped from 18th to 15th in bull riding.
• Clint Summers climbed from 12th to ninth in team roping heeling
• Team roping heeler Regan Ward jumped from 18th to 15th.

Two spots

• Chet Herren climbed from 16th to 14th in steer roping.
• Steer wrestler Blake Knowles moved from 13th to 11th.

One spot

• Bull rider Dustin Bouquet moved from fourth to third.
• Tyler Bingham moved from 14th to 13th n bull riding.
• Trevor Brazile moved from eighth to seventh in tie-down roping and from fifth to fourth in steer roping.
• Saddle bronc rider Chase Brooks moved from 14th to 13th.
• Team roping header Bubba Buckloo rose from sixth to fifth.
• Steven Dent climbed from seventh to sixth in bareback riding.
• Saddle bronc rider Clay Elliott moved from eighth to seventh.
• Vin Fisher moved from ninth to eighth in steer roping.
• Steer wrestler Scott Guenthner climbed from third to second.
• Joseph Harrison moved from fifth to fourth in team roping heeling.
• Chad Masters moved from 13th to 12th in team roping heading.
• Team roping header Riley Minor went from ninth to eighth.
• Cameron Morman moved from 16th to 15th.
• Taos Muncy climbed from 16th to 15th in saddle bronc riding.
• Tie-down roper Rhen Richard moved from 12th to 11th.
• Scott Snedecor moved from third to second in steer roping.
• Team roping heeler Chase Tryan moved from 13th to 12th.
• Marty Yates climbed from 15th to 14th in tie-down roping.

Being on the bubble puts a cowboy one spot outside the Top 15. But getting there puts competitors in a good spot to try and qualify for the Wrangler NFR.

The following cowboys climbed the standings to No. 16.

• Saddle bronc rider J.J. Elshere moved from 17th to 16th and is $5,076 away from breaking into the Top 15.
• Bull rider Roscoe Jarboe moved from 17th to 16th in bull riding and is $149 away from breaking into the Top 15.
