PRCA Standings Shuffle: CoBurn Bradshaw Moves Inside the Top 15

The past few ProRodeo seasons for saddle bronc rider CoBurn Bradshaw have been full of ups and downs.

Recently, he’s acknowledged it’s been full of the latter over the last few years. The Beaver, Utah, cowboy, has failed to qualify for the last three Wrangler National Finals Rodeos. The lack of success even forced him to find other work for the time being.

“Actually, it was more of a head game for me there for a while,” said Bradshaw, 27. “I ended up kind of leaving rodeo and went to work. After COVID, it ran me dry on money and I wasn’t going to go broke trying to rodeo. So, I went trucking, I bought a semi.

“I wasn’t even going to come back really. I was just going to kind of circuit rodeo around the house. Then Reno went really well and the last part of last year went really good. I figured I probably better enter full time this year and try for it again.”

The tide has begun to turn for the four-time NFR qualifier in 2022. In the April 18 PRCA | RAM World Standings, he jumped nine spots from 23rd to 14th with $30,408. He said there’s no greater feeling being back where you feel like you belong.

“It definitely feels good, I’m glad to be back up with the top of the game again,” he said. “Everything has been going great this year and it’s felt better than it has in the last couple years that’s for sure.”

Being back in the Top 15 in April is only a small accomplishment on Bradshaw’s list of goals for 2022. He has his sights set on returning to the Finals for the first time since 2018. He knows consistency will be key if he wants to end the regular season with a trip to Las Vegas on the calendar.

“The last year I made was in 2018 and I won the average,” Bradshaw said. “Then it kind of all went downhill for me after that. I just haven’t been able to get over that hump. I know being consistent is key if a guy wants to make the NFR. That’s where I lost my edge for a while. I know consistent guys make the Finals and I lost my consistency there for a couple years.

“You can’t do that, you can’t waste opportunities to win money because nowadays guys are missing the Finals buy $100 in some cases. So, yeah staying consistent is the most important thing. I feel like I’m riding as good as ever right now and my confidence is as high as it’s been since the last time I made the Finals.”
