#InCaseYouMissedIt: Team USA Eagles Soar at Global Cup, Leme is Lights Out and More

By: Darci Miller

The Team USA Eagles showed up in a big way this weekend, defending their dirt in Arlington, Texas. Plus, Jose Vitor Leme did Jose Vitor Leme things, Team Australia threw down and more. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.

At the Global Cup…

Heading into the 2020 WinStar World Casino and Resort Global Cup USA, presented by Monster Energy, no team had ever won the title on their home soil. The Team USA Eagles changed all that, winning their second Global Cup championship, on home soil, in Texas.

The Eagles went 6-for-18 to get the win, and every single ride played a vital role in getting there.

Also vital to the win was two-time World Champion Jess Lockwood’s intense, 100-degree training methods.

With three rides through the first two rounds, the Eagles also led after the first night of competition.

World No. 2 Jose Vitor Leme won the individual title with his 3-for-4 performance as Team Brazil finished in third place.

The two-time Global Cup champions fell into an early hole in Arlington, going just 1-for-8 on the first night of competition.

Team Australia began the Global Cup 2-for-8 and in third place…

…but surged to narrowly finish in second place, just 9.25 points behind the Eagles.

Team Canada, meanwhile, got off to a blazing start, finishing the first night of competition in second place…

…but was blanked on night two and finished in fourth place overall.

Team Mexico finished in fifth place, but the coaching staff is optimistic about the future…

…and the squad was buoyed by a clutch 89-point ride by Edgar Durazo.

The Team USA Wolves got an 85.25-point ride from Colten Jesse on night one…

…but lost several key members to injury and finished sixth overall.

Meanwhile, on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour…

Fabiano Vieira was the big winner of the weekend, going 2-for-2 to win the Memphis Invitational.
