By: Cally Anderson

BANGOR, Maine – As the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s (PWVT) Bangor Classic rolled to a close on Friday night, Garrett Jones (Devers, Texas) and Dustin Martinez (Canjilon, New Mexico) emerged victorious after riding their way to sharing the Round 1 win with matching 87.5-point scores.

Jones, amongst the last section of riders, had Bangor fans cheering at full volume as he fired out of the chutes aboard Flash Bang (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls).

After matching his bovine athlete jump-for-jump, Martinez confidently conquered Just Denim (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

For the pairs’ first-place accomplishment, each cowboy earned 23 velocity global points and heads into Saturday leading the charge.

2022 Arizona Ridge Riders’ own Vitor Losnake (Bauru, Brazil) punched his ticket into Round 2 when he erupted from the chutes aboard Cooter Brown (Lucas Manning / Waller Brothers Cattle Co) to secure a third-place finish. Not far behind the dynamic first-place rides of Jones and Martinez, the Brazilian cowboy received an 87-point ride score, which earned him 17 velocity global points.

Fourth place in Maine’s opening round went to Jeffrey Ramagos (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) for his 84-point matchup with Bar Fly (J Bar W).

His efforts netted the Louisiana man 16 velocity global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 of the night was Justin Bates (Temple, Georgia).

Bates set the pace for the night after being paired with Sig Sauce Side Piece (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

The 29-year-old Georgia cowboy sailed to an 83-point score, collecting 15 velocity global points.

The PBR Kubota Classic will continue inside the Cross Insurance Center as the top bull riders of the PWVT return for Round 2 on Saturday, March 11 at 7 p.m. EST.
