By: Kacie Albert

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ahead of the first-ever homestand for the Kansas City Outlaws, Western Missouri’s newest professional sports team competing in the inaugural PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Team Series, the team has today announced the Outlaw Days Concert on Aug. 6 at KC Live! in the Power & Light District to be headlined by Josh Abbott Band, with special performances by David Lee Murphy and David Nail.

The Outlaws, the newest professional sports team to take Kansas City by storm, won the league’s inaugural preseason event in Bismarck, ND, last weekend. Competing as the city’s first-ever professional bull riding team, the Kansas City Outlaws are one of eight founding franchises for the groundbreaking PBR Team Series. During the regular season, the founding teams will compete in five-on-five games, with a 10-event regular season leading into a national championship that will be decided in a double-elimination playoff tournament in November in Las Vegas.

During the regular season, each team will host a three-day homestand at their home venue and also compete at two neutral-site events, beginning with the season-launch stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on July 24-25. The Kansas City Outlaws, who call T-Mobile Center home, will host their inaugural homestand on Aug. 5-7 at T-Mobile Center, the second event of the 2022 PBR Team Series season.

The Outlaw Days Concert is the first of a multitude of programming that will be held across Outlaw Days Festival to accompany the three-day team bull riding event inside T-Mobile Center. Fans should stay tuned to pbr.com/teams/outlaws for all the latest news.

The Outlaw Days Concert will begin on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 1:30 p.m. David Nail will first take the stage, followed by David Lee Murphy at 3 p.m. and Josh Abbott Band at 4:45 p.m.

Tickets for the Outlaw Days Concert are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com. General Admission tickets are available for $20, and VIP Packages start at $50.

Josh Abbott Band has grown from being a staple of the Texas music scene to a national touring act since forming in 2006 at Lubbock’s Texas Tech University. The seven-man group is composed of Josh Abbott, Austin Davis, Preston Wait, Edward Villanueva, Caleb Keeter, David Fralin, and Jimmy Hartman.

Two of their projects, Small Town Family Dream and Front Row Seat, scored Top 10 debuts on the Billboard country albums chart, while five titles cracked the Billboard country singles lists, including a pair – “Oh, Tonight” with Kacey Musgraves; and “Wasn’t That Drunk,” with Carly Pearce – which represented their first chart appearances.

In 2021, Josh Abbott Band released their sixth studio album, The Highway Kind, an uplifting 10-track project that finds lead singer Abbott embracing life as a loving husband and doting father of two after 12 years as a road warrior and frontman of his country band.

The Outlaw Days concert will also include performances by CMA Award-winning Murphy and GRAMMY award-nominated Nail.

David Lee Murphy is best recognized for his massive hit single “Dust On The Bottle” and is also known as one of Country Music’s best songwriters. He has written songs for superstar artists like Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and others. Murphy’s debut platinum-selling album, Out With A Bang, produced a string of hits, including “Just Once,” which was featured in the movie 8 Seconds about bull rider Lane Frost.

In 2018, Murphy teamed with Chesney on the album No Zip Code, containing 11 songs written by Murphy with some of Nashville’s finest songwriters. It yielded the No. 1 single and duet with Chesney, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” and earned Murphy his first CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year.

David Nail has released eight Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums. He has recorded the platinum-certified hit “Whatever She’s Got,” along with certified gold songs “Nights on Fire,” “Red Light,” and “Let It Rain.”

Having collaborated or toured with the likes of Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Lady A and more, in 2011, Nail earned his first GRAMMY nomination for Male Country Vocal Performance for his hit “Turning Home.” Nail has also been nominated for ACM and CMT Awards, with his music garnering more than 150 million YouTube views, 200 million Spotify streams and 1 billion Pandora streams.

The Outlaw Days Concert is the first of a multitude of programming to be held around the Kansas City Outlaws’ first-ever homestand at T-Mobile Center from Aug. 5-7.

The bull riding action for the 2022 PBR Team Series’ Outlaws Days at T-Mobile Center begins at 7:45 p.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 5, 6:45 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 6, and 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, Aug. 7, times subject to change.
