Krantz Wins Round 2 of Bangor Classic

By: Easton Colvin

BANGOR, Maine – After a dominant performance in Round 1, the bucking bulls of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) continued their streak in Round 2 on Saturday night in Bangor. Bucking the roof off the Cross Insurance Center for the sixth straight year, the Bangor Classic has not disappointed fans of bull power through the first two nights of competition.

After re-opening the Cross Insurance Center to fans with Round 1 on Friday night, Kyle Jones (Troy, Missouri) was leading the event with a 79-point ride in Round 1 aboard Free Loader (J Bar W). But just like Round 1, the bulls dominated in Round 2 with 31 buckoffs.

Dalton Krantz (Somers, Iowa) rode to the Round 2 win and took over the event lead with his 85-point trip on Saturday night aboard Blue on Black (J Bar W).

Krantz scooped up seven world points for the finish, and he sits in first place heading into championship Sunday.

Bryan Titman (East Bernard, Texas) was second in the round, gaining the fourth qualified ride of the weekend on Texas Red (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc). Bursting out of the chutes midway through the round to the tune of 84 points.

Titman, who has recently re-emerged on tour, picked up four world points and sits just one point behind Krantz in the aggregate with two rounds remaining on the weekend.

Brazilian Eduardo de Oliveira (Nova Lacerda, Brazil) went to work on the back of Makavelli (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) for 81.5 points and a third-place finish in Round 2.

Along with being in championship contention going into Sunday, Oliveira earned three world points.

Matt Oliver (Millersburg, Ohio) rounded out the qualified rides in Round 2 with 63 points on Sim Shady (J Bar W).

Southern Twist (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) contributed to the bull power during Round 2, dispatching veteran Michael Lane (Tazwell, Virginia) in 6.25 seconds on the way to a 45-point bull score, the highest of the event so far.

Round 3 and the championship round of the 2021 Bangor Classic will begin tomorrow, Sunday July 25, at 1:45 p.m. ET inside Cross Insurance Center.

Fans can tune in to the conclusion of the 2021 Bangor Classic Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on RidePass on Pluto TV.
