PRCA Weekly Recap: Oct. 12-18

There’s no “offseason” in ProRodeo. So the third week of the 2021 season presented six competitions worth a collective $435,676, will all of that money counting in the race for the 2021 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

With circuit titles and future qualifications on the line, ProRodeo athletes posted some fast runs and high scores Oct. 12-18. Although the prize money differs from one competition to the next, the judging remains consistent.

In addition to the fame that comes with winning the most prize money, each ride was a chance to be the best of the week. Here’s a look at the highest scores and fastest times for each event held last week.

Bareback rider Jake Brown’s 85.5-point ride on Rafter G Rodeo’s Secret Agent Man in the second round of the Heart O’ Texas Rodeo in Waco on Oct. 16 helped him win the two-head average with 169.5 points.

Steer wrestler Cody Miller won the 7th Annual Arcadia (Fla.) Fall Rodeo with a 3.6-second run Oct. 18.

Team ropers Tyler Wade and Billie Jack Saebens won Waco with the 3.7-second run they posted on Oct. 13.

Saddle bronc rider Wyatt Casper won the North Texas State Fair & Rodeo in Denton with 88.5 points on Andrews Rodeo’s Sandbox, Oct. 17.

Tie-down roper Michael Otero won the Stockton (Mo.) Lake PRCA Rodeo with a 7.5-second run Oct. 17.

Barrel racer Emily Miller kicked off her clean sweep at the RAM Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo in Duncan, Okla., with a 15.50-second run in the first round Oct. 16.

Two steer ropers posted 9.1-second runs in Waco on Oct. 14. Tuf Cooper won the second round in 9.1, then Garrett Hale won the third round with the same time to help him win the three-head average in 30.8 seconds.

Bull riders Dustin Boquet and Trey Benton III split the win at the Harrison (Ark.) Roundup Club PRCA Xtreme Bulls with 89.5 points each on Oct. 16. Boquet’s ride was on Generations Pro Rodeo’s Black Mamba, while Benton’s was on Generations Pro Rodeo’s Hurt Locker.
