RENO, Nev. – The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tourreturns to the Reno Rodeo Outdoor Arena on Thursday, June 19 to kick off the 95th edition of the Reno Rodeo. Forty of the world’s top bull riders will take their shot at the prestigious Reno Xtreme Bulls title.

The headliners scheduled to compete at Reno include 14 of the 15 bull riding qualifiers from the 2013 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, matched against the rankest PRCA bulls, many of which were selected for this past December’s Wrangler NFR.

Reigning World Champion J.W. Harris, of Mullin, Texas, is in the lineup along with 2012 World Champion Cody Teel, Kountze, Texas, and 2011 World Champion Shane Proctor, of Grand Coulee, Wash.

Reno Xtreme Bulls defending champion and 2013 Xtreme Bulls Tour Champion Tyler Smith also returns. The 26-year-old bull rider from Fruita, Colo., put on a show in last year’s Reno Xtreme Bulls short round and picked up his second Xtreme Bulls Tour win of the year in front of a sell-out crowd of more than 9,500. After tying for seventh in the long go with an 84-point ride on Western Rodeo’s Super Bull, Smith posted a 93-point ride on Growney Brothers’ Crystal Deal to blow away the competition in the finals.

Other notables competing include 2013Wrangler NFR qualifiers Trey Benton III, Rock Island, Texas; Chandler Bownds, Lubbock, Texas; Parker Breding, Edgar, Mont.; Cody Campbell, Summerville, Ore.; Cole Echols, Elm Grove, La.; Elliot Jacoby, Fredericksburg, Texas; Trevor Kastner, Ardmore, Okla.; Josh Koschel, Nunn, Colo.; Tyler Willis, Wheatland, Wyo., and Steve Woolsey, Payson, Utah.

All 40 riders will compete in a long go on June 19, beginning at 7 p.m. (PT), and the top 12 will be brought back for the finals, where the Reno Xtreme Bulls champion will be crowned based on the highest total score.

The payout for the Reno Xtreme Bulls event is $50,000. Monies won at PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour stops count towards the 2014 Windham Weaponry High Performance PRCA World Standings, which determine qualifiers for the Dec. 4-13 Wrangler NFR.
