Vote on the Golden Barrel Award for Best Winning Ride

By: Darci Miller

Ever wanted to give your favorite rider or bull an award? Well, you’re in luck.

This season, the PBR is hosting the inaugural Golden Barrel Awards, a series of end-of-season honors voted on by you, the fans, in the categories of Best Celebration, Best Winning Ride, Best Save and 7 Seconds of Agony.

Each season, it’s inevitable that some rides are better than others. And some go down as some of the best rides in history. In 2021, we’ve had no shortage of incredible rides, but four stand out as the best – and, yes, Woopaa had a hand in all of them. From jaw-dropping wins to simply eye-popping scores, this season gave us some accomplishments never before seen in the PBR. This, folks, is the Best Winning Ride award.

Head over to the Golden Barrel Awards page to cast your vote, and read on for more about the nominees.

Jose Vitor Leme rides Woopaa for 97.75 points

What can we even say about this ride that hasn’t already been said? It’s the highest-scoring ride in PBR history, so it literally doesn’t get any better. World No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme and Woopaa already had some great history, teaming up to win Leme the world title at the 2020 PBR World Finals, and this ride permanently etched both of their names in the history books.

Paulo Lima wins Iron Cowboy with 95.25 points on Woopaa

What a way to win your first premier series event in more than five years! At the PBR Tractor Supply Co. Iron Cowboy, presented by Ariat, Lima went 4-for-5 to take the win and leap 30 spots in the world standings. Lima took on Woopaa in the winner-take-all fifth round, earning a career-best 95.25-points. The 90-point ride was the seventh of Lima’s career on the premier series and first since January 2016.

Boudreaux Campbell wins Kansas City with 95.5 points on Woopaa

Woopaa and Boudreaux Campbell have faced off three times this season, all of which have scored north of 93 points. Their most successful out was at the PBR Caterpillar Classic in Kansas City, when Campbell earned 95.5 points and the event win.

Dalton Kasel rides Woopaa for 96.75 points

Just a little more than two months after Leme set the new record for highest-scoring ride, Dalton Kasel came along and broke the old record as well. He recorded the second-highest-scoring ride in PBR history in the championship round in San Antonio, where he went 3-for-3 for his second event win of the season.
