Werries Wins Velocity Tour Event in Eureka

EUREKA, Mont. – Matt Werries (Jacksonville, Illinoise) rode his way to his first Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour victory at The Bull Thing Saturday night at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

Werries went a combined 2-for-4 in Eureka after double-entering the event. In Round 1 he rode both Thunderbolt for 89 points and Devil in a Bottle for 85 points. His 89-point ride on Thunderbolt was enough to win Round 1 and the event after no rides were recorded in the championship round.

Werries earned 80 points toward the world standings and $9,411.52 for the victory.

Australian Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, Australia) finished in second place in Eureka after riding Redneck for 87.5 points in Round 1 before going on to bucking off Hammer Down in the championship round. Richardson netted 50 world points, $6,940.46 and moved to No. 36 in the world standings.

Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) and Stetson Lawrence (Williston, North Dakota) split third place after recording matching 87-point rides in Round 1. Triplett covered Humberto, while Lawrence reached 8 seconds aboard Stand Up. Both riders were bucked off in the championship round.

The pair each pocketed 25 world points and $3,742.76 for the effort.

Gage Gay (Staley, North Carolina) rounded out the Top 5 in Montana after covering Disco Ball for 86.5 points in Round 1. He was later bucked off by Blaze of Glory in the championship round.

Gay took home 15 world points $1,766 for the finish.

The Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour will next head to Archdale, North Carolina, for the 19th Annual TNT Carports Jerome Davis PBR Invitational September 1-2.

The 2017 Velocity Tour will culminate with the Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour Finals at South Point Arena in Las Vegas on Oct. 28-30, leading into the PBR’s Built Ford Tough World Finals, Nov. 1-5 at T-Mobile Arena.
