News & Notes from the Rodeo Trail, February 10

The 2020 leaderboard witnessed substantial changes the first full week of February as ProRodeo fans witnessed the highest scores of the season in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding and the fastest team roping run of the season. For the second week in a row, bareback rider Tilden Hooper made the highest-scored ride of the week, but this time he did it with one of the highest scores of the 2020 season. On Feb. 1 he posted an 89.5-point ride on Frontier Rodeo Company’s Night Fist in Fort Worth. He returned to win the rodeo with a 91.5-point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Agent Lynx for $20,000, Feb. 8. Now he shares the No. 1 spot on the leaderboard with Jake Brown and Jesse Pope. Team ropers Jaxson Tucker and Jake Clay made the fastest run of the season with their 3.5-second run at the San Angelo (Texas) Rodeo, Feb. 9. Saddle bronc rider Dawson Hay’s 91-point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Zena Warrior to win Fort Worth for $20,000 tied the highest-scored ride of the season. Bull rider Brody Yeary topped the 2020 leaderboard with his 92-point ride on Stace Smith Pro Rodeos’ Bet On Black in Jackson, Feb. 8.
