PRCA for the Record: Clayton Biglow Looks Back on Record Ride in Hermiston, Ore.
The Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Ore., is becoming like a second home for bareback rider Clayton Biglow.
The last two times the rodeo was held (2019, 2021) he walked out of the arena with wins under his belt. His eight-second ride a year ago was one for the record books.
Biglow matched up with Calgary Stampede’s Xplosive Skies, the 2021 Pendleton Whiskey Let ‘Er Buck Bareback Horse of the Year. The duo paired up to put on a show with a 92-point effort, which set the rodeo record.
“That is definitely one of the best rides of my career and I have to give it to the horse as well, Xplosive Skies was awesome that night,” said Biglow, the 2019 PRCA World Champion.
“She is a great trip every single time. She gives a guy an opportunity to win whatever rodeo you’re at that day. That night all I had to do was my job.”
Biglow’s connection with the city of Hermiston goes back to 2014, when he was on his PRCA permit.
“I would say Hermiston is probably one of the first big rodeos I ever went to when I was on my permit,” he said. “I got turned out and then they called me back. It was a pretty cool moment and I got to get on my first Calgary Stampede horse. So, to have the record there is awesome.”
And he has his sights set on returning to the Northwest and defending his title this season.
“I can’t wait to be back in Hermiston this year,” Biglow said. “There’s not a ton that goes into it, a guy just has to try to draw the best he can and ride the best he can.”
