Reno Rodeo Receives 2023 Outstanding Rodeo Committee Partner Award From the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association

RENO, Nev. – Today the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) Board of Directors announced their 2023 contract award winners, including Reno Rodeo as the Outstanding Rodeo Committee Partner of the year.

In their press release, WPRA noted these winners “have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it all happen and have helped keep the Association alive and well for the past 75 years.”

Reno Rodeo and other winners will be officially recognized during the WPRA Star Celebration at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev., on Thursday, Dec. 7.

“We feel very honored to be selected as the Outstanding Rodeo Committee Partner by the WPRA,” said George Combs, Reno Rodeo general manager. “It’s so gratifying to be recognized as one of the best rodeos in the country. This award is a direct reflection of our passionate volunteers who work incredibly hard to put on the ‘Wildest Richest Rodeo in the West.’ It’s nice to see them get rewarded at the end of the year.”

The WPRA is the oldest women’s sports organization in the country. The Association started in 1948 with a group of Texas ranch women who wanted to add a little color and femininity to the rough-and-tumble sport of rodeo. Today, the Association boasts more than 3,000 members, over 1,500 events and payouts totaling over $5 million.

Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., the WPRA provides opportunities for women across the United States and Canada to compete in the timed events of barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping and tie-down roping.
