Three-Time NFR Qualifier Wyatt Casper Sidelined with Hamstring Injuries

This was a case of déjà vu – and not in a good way for saddle bronc rider Wyatt Casper.

For the second year in a row, Casper, who has qualified for three straight Wrangler National Finals Rodeos, injured his hamstring on the Fourth of July.

Casper’s latest injury happened when he was aboard Mosbrucker Rodeos’ Good Times at the Livingston (Mont.) Roundup.

“I have Grade 2 and Grade 1 tears in my right hamstring,” said Casper, 27. “It happened on my spur out. We are going to take off around 30 days and see how it feels. I’m not planning on having surgery or anything. I’m just going take some time off and start rehabbing.”

Casper is sixth in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $80,374. He’s trying to be cautious about his latest injury because he hurt his right hamstring on July 4, 2022, in Red Lodge, Mont., and then tore his hamstring on Aug. 5 at the Mountain Valley Stampede in Heber City, Utah.

Casper said the 2022 injury was in a different part of his hamstring than his latest injuries.

“Injuries are just a part of it,” Casper said. “It doesn’t matter how much training or whatever you do, injuries are always going to happen and can happen. This was just a bad luck deal. We want to take around a month off and then give it heck in August and September.”
