Unleash The Beast Returns to Houston’s Toyota Center for First Time in Five Years Jan. 26-27

HOUSTON, Texas – For the first time in five years, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) premier Unleash The Beast will buck into Houston, Texas, taking over Toyota Center with Kubota PBR Houston on Jan. 26-27. While the event will mark the seventh time in history the Unleash The Beast has taken over Houston, it will mark the PBR’s debut inside the home of the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

For two nights only, more than 30 of the best bull riders in the world will go head-to-head against the sport’s rankest bovine athletes, showcasing the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness.

The upcoming Kubota PBR Houston will be the ninth event of the new individual season as riders vie for early points in the race to be crowned the 2024 PBR World Champion.

The bull riding action for Kubota PBR Houston begins with Round 1 at 7:45 p.m. CT on Friday, January 26, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 6:45 p.m. CT on Saturday, January 27. All competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Rounds 1-2. Following Round 2 Saturday evening, the riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled with the Top 12 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.

The premier Unleash The Beast last bucked into Houston in August 2019, when Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) went a perfect 3-for-3 to win his fourth event of the season en route to his historic second World Championship.

Delivering a dominant 3-for-3 performance, the Montana man netted 460 world points, allowing him to claim a 340-point lead over No. 2 Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas), who won the tour stop’s accompanying 15/15 Bucking Battle. En route to the victory, Lockwood reached an important milestone, recording his 100th career ride on the Unleash The Beast by riding Budakon (Hart Cattle Co/ Hale) for 88.75 points in the championship round.

As the 2019 season continued, Lockwood remained dominant, capping the season with a win at the World Finals en route to being crowned the 2019 PBR World Champion. Earning his first gold buckle in 2017, Lockwood became the youngest two-time World Champion at 22. He also became just the sixth rider in history to win multiple PBR World Championships.

The 2019 event in Houston was also record-setting for three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sul, Brazil) who punched his ticket into the “400 Club” by recording his 400th career ride aboard Dusty’s Revenge (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/H&C Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 for 85.75 points.

Other past PBR Unleash The Beast event winners in Space City are: Chase Outlaw (2012), Justin McBride (2001), Ross Coleman (2000), Cody Hart (1999) Donnie Howard (1998).
