Campbell and Piva Split Round 1 Win in Reno

RENO, Nev. – As the fourth PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Velocity Tour event of the 2019 season began in Reno, Nevada, on Friday night, Ruger Piva (Challis, Idaho) and Cody Campbell (Summerville, Oregon) tied for the Round 1 win of the Reno Rumble.
Recording matching 88-point scores, Piva brought the crowd to its feet inside the Reno Events Center as he fired out of the chutes covering Fantastic (Humpz & Hornz), while Campbell, riding in the final section, made the 8 aboard Hell Pony (Julio Moreno/Dallas Schott).
For the round win, each rider collected a check for $700.
Texan Taylor Toves (Stephenville, Texas) finished third in the Silver State, compliments of his 87.5-point ride aboard Ringeye (Mann Creek Buckin Bulls).
Fourth place went to Brazilian cowboy Cristiano Figueredo (Sapucaia do Norte, Minas Gerais, Brazil) for his qualified ride aboard Hillbilly Rock (Julio Moreno/ Dallas Schott) for 87 points.
Rounding out the Top 5, just one week after his PBR Unleash The Beast debut in New York City at the season opener inside Madison Square Garden, was young gun Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas). The young man in the current No.1 spot of the Velocity standings recorded an energetic 86.5-point ride aboard JJJ 1/7 (JJJ Bucking Bulls).
The bull riding action continues Saturday, January 12 at the Reno Events Center at 7:00 p.m. PT. The top riders on the Velocity Tour will return for Round 2 of the event where they will all attempt to ride one more bull before the Top 10 on the leaderboard move onto the championship round.
