#InCaseYouMissedIt: Montanha Returns to the Top, Injury Bug Bites and More
By: Darci Miller
It had been more than two years since Claudio Montanha Jr. last won a premier series event, but that all changed in Greensboro. Plus, the third time was the charm for Mauricio Moreira, several Top-10 riders paid a visit to sports med and more. Miss a moment of the action this weekend? Here’s what happened around the PBR.
On the Unleash The Beast…
Claudio Montanha Jr. went 3-for-3 to win the PBR Union Home Mortgage Invitational, presented by Bass Pro Shops, improving to No. 17 with his first UTB win since April 2019.
Also claiming victory in Greensboro was Mauricio Moreira, who won his second 15/15 Bucking Battle of the season in his third matchup against I’m Legit Too.
Joao Ricardo Vieira made the world title race a little bit more interesting, as the No. 4 rider in the world won Round 1 and went on to finish second overall.
With a fifth-place finish in Round 1, Conner Halverson snuck into the Top 35 of the world standings and is in position to qualify for his first PBR World Finals.
In injury news, Cooper Davis, Mauricio Moreira and Dalton Kasel were all injured in Round 2 in Greensboro and are questionable for Manchester.
Meanwhile, on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour…
…but Austin Beaty went 2-for-3 for the first win of his PBR career.
Down under in PBR Australia…
In the Touring Pro Division…
Eli Vastbinder won the Congress PBR Touring Pro Division event for his first career TPD victory.
