Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Bucks Back to Cedar Park, Texas, H-E-B Center on Feb. 17-18

By: Kacie Albert

CEDAR PARK, Texas – For the third straight year, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour will buck into Cedar Park, Texas, returning to H-E-B Center on February 17-18, 2023 with the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out.

For two nights only, some of the best bull riders in the world will battle the sport’s rankest bovine athletes in the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast in one of the most exciting live sporting events to witness.

During the 2023 season, the PBR will celebrate its 30th anniversary since 20 cowboys broke away from the traditional rodeo with the belief that bull riding could be a standalone sport. Since their trailblazing initiative, the PBR has grown into a global phenomenon awarding nearly $300 million in prize money.

The upcoming PBR Cedar Park Chute Out will mark the 14th event of the new individual season for the PBR’s expansion series. Eventgoers will watch on as riders vie for crucial points in the race to be crowned the 2023 PBR Velocity Tour Champion.

When the PBR last travelled to Cedar Park in January 2022, Brazilian newcomer Cladson Rodolfo (Pilar do Sul, Brazil) delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance inside H-E-B Center to win his career-first PBR event title.

Rodolfo got off to a hot start in Round 1, delivering the ninth-best score when he rode Imagine Dragon (Perot Bucking Bulls/CG Bucking Bulls/Big Rafter Rodeo) for 83 points. The 24-year-old then won Round 2 when he made the 8 aboard Cheap Trick (TDS/Buentello Bucking Bulls) for 88 points.

Undeterred by the bright lights and pressure of just his fourth event on American soil, Rodolfo clinched the event win when he rode Hollywood (TDS/Buentello Bucking Bulls) for 86 points. Rodolfo collected 38.5 world points for his efforts, surging to No. 25 in the PBR world standings.

In 2021, the Velocity Tour debuted in Cedar Park to launch the series’ season, with Texas’ own J.T. Moore (Alvin, Texas) delivering a flawless 3-for-3 performance to capture his career-first victory on the league’s expansion series.

Prior to the PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour’s debut in Cedar Park in 2021, the city welcomed the Touring Pro Division annually from 2011-2015. Other past winners include the likes of three-time PBR World Finals event winner Robson Palermo (2015), Kasey Hayes (2014), Markus Mariluch (2013), Reese Cates (2012) and Douglas Duncan (2011).

The bull riding action for the PBR Cedar Park Chute Out begins with Round 1 at 8:00 p.m. CT on Friday, February 17, followed by Round 2 and the championship round at 7:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 18.

All 45 competing bull riders will get on one bull each in Round 1. The Top 30 riders from Round 1 will advance to Round 2 Saturday evening. The riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled, with the Top 15 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.

Tickets for the two-day event go on sale Friday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. CT, and start at $18, taxes and fees not included. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com and PBR.com, at the H-E-B Center Box Office or by calling PBR customer service at 1-800-732-1727.
