Top 12 Bull Scores of the First Half of 2020

By: Darci Miller

PUEBLO, Colo. – In many ways, the 2020 season has been unlike any other in PBR history. Amidst the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, action ground to a halt before resuming in closed-to-fans environments, and the Monster Energy Team Challenge ushered in a new era of the sport.

One thing that hasn’t changed? The best bull power in the world.

While Jose Vitor Leme currently has a stranglehold on the world No. 1 position in the human world title race, the World Champion Bull race has been wide open. Reigning champ Smooth Operator looks to be back in championship form, but challengers like Chiseled, Smooth Over and I’m Legit Too should make this a race to watch. There have been 12 bull scores north of 46 points, including the highest score seen in the PBR in two years.

Relive the rankest action of the first half of the season with the top bull scores on the premier series.

1. 47.5 – Smooth Over against Andrew Alvidrez (4.34 seconds), PBR Lucas Oil Invitational

Ranked No. 7 in the YETI World Champion Bull race, Smooth Over posted the first 47.5-point bull score in the PBR in two years when he disposed of Andrew Alvidrez in 4.34 seconds in Guthrie, Oklahoma. It was the first time a bull was marked 47.5 points or higher since Pearl Harbor earned the same score when he bucked off Fernando Henrique Novais in 5.89 seconds in Tacoma, Washington, on April 15, 2018.

2. 47 – Chiseled against Boudreaux Campbell (5.60 seconds), Monster Energy Team Challenge

Chiseled ended the 2019 on a historic note, helping Rubens Barbosa to a monstrous 95.75-point score with a 47-point bull score at the 2019 PBR World Finals. The bovine is just as hot to begin 2020, ranked No. 2 in the bull standings, and he recently matched that 47-point bull score in dispatching Boudreaux Campbell in 5.60 seconds in the championship game of the Monster Energy Team Challenge.

T3. 46.75 – Smooth Operator against Ezekiel Mitchell (2.00 seconds), Chicago Invitational

Similarly, Smooth Operator ended 2019 on the highest of highs, taking home the 2019 YETI World Championship Bull title with a dominating showing. In his 2020 season debut, Smooth Operator showed that he’s still a contender, bucking off Ezekiel Mitchell in 2.00 seconds at the Chicago Invitational.

T3. 46.75 – Smooth Operator against Marco Eguchi (5.87 seconds), PBR Dakota Community Bank & Trust Invitational

The reigning champ began the second half of the Unleash The Beast with an out befitting his title, dispatching Marco Eguchi in 5.87 seconds for another 46.75-point score in Bismarck, North Dakota. The score propelled him up the world standings, and he’s now ranked No. 1. Could the 10-year-old bovine repeat as champion?
