Casey Coulter Wins Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Event in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – As the only rider to go 3-for-3 in front of a sold-out crowd at Van Andel Arena, Casey Coulter (Kirksville, Missouri) clinched the win at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour’s Tractor Supply Co. Classic in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Coulter took his first step to the top of the leaderboard in Round 1, finishing third after making the 8 aboard Warpath (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) for 86 points.

The “show-me state” cowboy continued the momentum into Round 2 as he bested his bovine opponent Bean Time (Cornwell Bucking Bulls) to record another 86-point ride.

In the championship round, Coulter clinched the win, the second of his career, when he conquered Jet Black (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) for 84 points.

Coulter’s flawless efforts netted him 131 Velocity Global Points. He’s now ranked No. 6 in the Velocity Global Standings.

Second in the Great Lake State was Kyle Jones (Troy, Missouri), collecting 106 Velocity Global Points.

Jones set the pace early in the weekend after an 87-point ride on Off Campus (Dakota Rodeo / Brian & Ashley Pintar / Clay Struve / Chad Burger) secured a Round 1 win.

Determined to finish the stop in Grand Rapids as the No. 1 man, Jones punched his ticket into the championship round after being paired against Old School (J Bar W), delivering an 87.5-point ride score. However, Gold Standard (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) dominated Jones, showcasing his athletic ability, after just 3.28 seconds.

Despite being dispatched at 7.48 seconds in Round 1 aboard Shrek (J Bar W), Jake Morinec (Mokena, Illinois) sought redemption in Round 2, claiming 85 points aboard Switch Back (C Check Bucking Bulls).

After earning one of the ten spots in the championship round, Morinec brought the Michigan crowd to full volume as he delivered an 87-point ride on Yogi (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

The Illinois cowboy secured a third-place finish, along with 78.5 Velocity Global Points.

Ramon de Lima (Rio Branco, Brazil) kept the 2-for-3 weekend going as he registered an 86.5-point ride in the opening round of action, riding Stairway to Heaven (C Check Bucking Bulls). In Round 2, the Brazilian athlete left the chutes aboard God’s Plan (C Check Bucking Bulls), recording an 84-point score.

In the championship round, Lima was no match for Off Campus as he hit the ground after just 5.12 seconds.

For his efforts in Grand Rapids, Lima returns home with 52 Velocity Global Points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was home-state man Matt Allgood (Saline, Michigan).

Despite a setback in Round 1 after he was no match for Pandemic (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls), Allgood redeemed himself in Round 2 aboard Sweatin’ Bullets (C Check Bucking Bulls), turning in an 82.5-point ride and securing his spot in the championship round.

After besting his bovine opponent Roan Ranger (Generations Pro Rodeo, Inc.) in the championship round for 85.5 points, Allgood earns 47 Velocity Global Points.

The talented bull riders of the PWVT will next head to North Charleston, South Carolina, for the Collision at The Coliseum at North Charleston Coliseum on Feb. 3. Additionally, in a double-up weekend, the PWVT will also be back in action again in Bakersfield, California, for the Bakersfield Buck Off on Feb. 4 at the Rabobank Arena.
