Fun Facts about Colter: Whatever he does, he does it with intention and relies on his faith to help him make sound decisions. He qualified for the Wrangler National Finals heading for Cesar de la Cruz from 2006 – 2008. The young married man had a four-year-old daughter and a new baby son and wanted to raise his family on their ranch. He stepped away from rodeo and turned to full-time ranching. Colter is a cowboy’s cowboy. He had been a heeler in high school and that’s what he will be doing in Las Vegas. He had his PRCA card because he picked up for Salt River Rodeo Company, another thing he has in common with his partner Derrick Begay. In 2021, he went to rodeos in the Turquoise Circuit. Last year, his daughter qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo and Derrick entered them around the trip to Gillette to watch Madelyn compete. This year he is headed back to his fourth NFR after a 14-year hiatus. It will be his first time roping from the heeling box and the first time for his children to have memories of their dad roping in the Thomas and Mack Arena. Colter and his wife Carly have three kids, Maddie, Colter Lee, and Traven.
