Fun Facts about Beau: The 2021 Rookie of the year has been mentored by Shane Hanchey and spends his winters with Shane. Winning the Calgary Stampede this year was a dream come true. He grew up watching it on television. The family was always busy in the hay field and that kept them from going to Calgary. This year the hay had to wait. He won the rodeo on a horse named Catalina, that his cousin Zeke Thurston had trained and then sold to Beau. Now the cousins are both competing at the NFR. Beau finished 35th last year which qualified him for the building rodeos last winter. He was the victim of a controversial call at Rodeo Houston that cost him the championship. He still won $11,500 there. Fans on social media started raising money to replace what he had lost. Beau took the funds and gave them to Caleb Berquist a fellow timed-event competitor who was injured in an accident.
