Fun Facts about Dean: He is the third bareback rider in this year’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo that is in contention for the Resistol Rookie of the Year in that event. His qualification came the hard way, consistently earning checks but not relying on wins over $20,000. Competing in the famed yellow bucking chutes is a dream come true for the determined athlete. He learned how to win from his high school wrestling coach. He qualified for state championships three times and left victorious once. Being the youngest of four boys saw him doing everything he could to keep up with his brothers. One of them, Derrick, introduced him to rodeo after he had spent time with cousins that competed. Dean chose to further his education and compete in college rodeos at Western Texas College in Snyder where he qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo. Competing at the NFR his rookie season is a dream come true.
