Fun Facts about Kade: He didn’t get on a bucking horse until he was 20 years old. He played baseball in high school and was on the diamond in college. Then injuries took their toll on his pitching arm. His father, Joey Sonnier, qualified for the Wrangler National Finals rodeo in 2018. An emotional Kade was in the stands and knew that he wanted to ride in the Thomas and Mack Arena one day. He started learning and helped his career by going to McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo last June and finished as the reserve champion. Then he cashed in at Reno the next week. He was invited to Calgary where he hit the jackpot finishing as the champion. He followed that up with a tie for the championship at Wyoming’s Cheyenne Frontier Days. He enters the NFR second in the Resistol Rookie of the Year standings and this time it will be Joey in the stands watching his son compete in the famed yellow bucking chutes.
